Happy Hopping!

I know I’ve been MIA but I really need that break. If you’ve been following me on Instagram then you know the reason why, but if not, then let me tell you why — we’re expecting our second baby!!! Woo hoo!!! I had a terrible first trimester that I couldn’t function that well! Now that I am feeling much better, I am going to start sharing with you some of the designs that I wasn’t able to post here late last year! I will take it easy though, but it feels great to be back!

Sometime in November last year, I was about to release this beautiful shawl that I created but life got in the way. I postponed it and thought of releasing it in December, but then again, I still wasn’t feeling good. I decided to just wait until the day that I felt good and ready. That day has come and today, I am sharing with you The XOXO Shawlette!

I used the Lion Brand Hand Dyed Heaven which I bought when Lion Brand had a sale. You see, sometimes, or most of the time, I buy yarn without even a project idea in mind. Is it only me or do you do the same too? Ha ha! Anyway, when I saw this yarn in my stash, it seemed like it was talking to me, “Pick me up”! Sounds crazy, right? I decided to take out this yarn from the closet and caked it up. That same day, I started my “trial and error” step in designing, and with a few frogging (ripping off) and restarting my workpiece, I finally figured out my design!

The XOXO Shawlette pattern is worked sideways where the edging is worked as a part of the main pattern. Incorporating the edging with the main pattern is a new technique I just learned and I am so thrilled to share it with you!

The XOXO Shawlette features the Crossed Double Crochet and Double Crochet stitches. Obviously, the “X” from the pattern name was taken from the Crossed Double Crochet stitch, and the “O” is from the edging! You’ll find out more in the pattern itself what I was talking about here!

This shawlette is a perfect addition to your Fall/Winter wardrobe! I also believe that this fun and easy-to-make shawlette is perfect for any occasion all year round!

So, without any further delay, let’s dive into the pattern!

NOTES

  1. Read the pattern carefully before starting.
  2. This pattern is worked flat, sideways.
  3. The beginning ch 3 counts as 1 DC.
  4. Numbers in ( ) at the end of a row indicate the number of stitches in that row.
  5. I recommend using a stitch marker to mark the end stitch of the next row. Remember to move stitch markers as you progress.
  6. If you’re not familiar with the Crossed Double Crochet (CDC) stitch, watch this video.
  7. You can customize this pattern to the size you prefer. To make it shorter/longer, you can deduct/add some rows, and follow the increasing/decreasing pattern.
